[ALERT] RI Bridges Hacked

(updated 12/17/2024, 4:23pm EST)

On December 13, 2024, it was confirmed that the RIBridges system had a cybersecurity breach. This system manages social services in Rhode Island including (but not limited to) Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP), Health coverage purchased through HealthSource RI, Rhode Island Works (RIW), Long-Term Services and Supports (LTSS), and General Public Assistance (GPA) Program. If you use RI Bridges for any of these programs, your personal data such as your name, address, date of birth, Social Security number, and banking information may have been compromised. The data that has been compromised is still unknown.

The RI Bridges site has been shut down, and you will not be able to access your account. You can still apply for benefits by mail (visit https://dhs.ri.gov/apply-now).

In this video, Governor McKee shares steps you can take to protect your data.

There is a RI Bridges Data Breach Hotline: 833-918-6603, open Mondays through Fridays 9am-9pm. You may need to share the reference number for the RI incident, which is B137035.

No other action has been advised at this point. Stay tuned to https://admin.ri.gov/ribridges-alert for updates and more information on this issue.
